Check out this great listen on Every time poor Benjamin passes feisty Tulip's house, she beats him up, again and again, until Benjamin finally takes the situation in hand and comes up with an unexpected truce. © Rosemary Wells (P) Weston Woods.
Tulip, a sadistically leering bully in a deceptive pink dress, habitually lays in wait on her tree branch to beat up fellow raccoon Benjamin as he passes below. What's worse, Benjamin is accused at home of ""bothering that sweet little gift."" The turning point comes when Benjamin, to protect a watermelon he's carrying home, flees to the branch, Tulip follows, and the branch gives way. The book was also pretty violent such as Benjamin attempting to throw a big watermelon onto Tulip, spitting watermelon seeds at each other, Benjamin throwing the same watermelon onto Tulip's face, and Tulip throwing mud all over Benjamin. In modern books, she avoids showing any of her characters showing or attempting any types of violence.
